Do credits expire?
It depends on how you got them. Credits included in a monthly plan reset at the start of each billing cycle — unused credits don't carry over. Credits purchased à la carte never expire and stay in your account until you use them.
What if I run out of credits?
Most teams don't — 300 credits/month covers ~60 full X-Ray scans, which is more than enough for ongoing maintenance. If you do need more, you can top up from your billing page anytime: 100 credits for $29, 300 for $69, or 1,000 for $179. Top-up credits never expire.
How is my Metabase data protected?
Your API key is stored AES-256 encrypted at rest and never logged. We only use it when you actively trigger a scan. Scan results (metadata: counts, scores, duplicate groups) are retained for 90 days. We never store the content of your queries, dashboards, or underlying database.
Will MetaLens slow down my Metabase instance?
No. MetaLens calls the Metabase API using read-only endpoints — the same calls your browser makes when you open the UI. A full X-Ray scan typically runs in under 90 seconds and generates no load on your database.
Does MetaLens work with self-hosted Metabase?
Yes, as long as your instance is reachable from the internet. Metabase Cloud, self-hosted on VPS, and on-premise installs with public DNS are all supported. Air-gapped or VPN-only deployments need an Enterprise contract — email nick@valiotti.com.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Cancel from your account settings in one click — no emails, no waiting period. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period, then stops. No questions asked.
Is there a refund policy?
We offer a free trial so you can verify MetaLens works for your instance before paying anything. Paid plans are non-refundable for partial months, but you can cancel any time to stop future charges.
What AI model powers the agents?
MetaLens is built on Anthropic's Claude models. Your Metabase metadata is sent to Anthropic's API — per Anthropic's usage policies, API data is not used to train their models.
I connected my Metabase but the scan failed — what do I do?
The most common cause is an API key with limited permissions. MetaLens needs a key from an admin account (or a user with access to all collections). Check that your key can call /api/card and /api/collection — if it can open those in a browser, MetaLens will work. Still stuck? Email nick@valiotti.com.
Can I delete all my data?
Yes, in one click from Settings → Account → Delete account. This wipes your encrypted API key, all scan results, all chat history, your account row, and any cached metadata. Hard delete, no soft-delete trash, no "recoverable for 30 days". Confirmation email sent within 5 minutes.
What happens to my scan results if I cancel?
Your account stays read-only for 30 days after cancellation so you can export anything you want — PDF reports, CSV exports of catalog data, JSON exports of metric trees. After day 31, scan results are deleted; your account row stays so you can resubscribe with the same email. Want everything gone immediately? Use Delete account instead of Cancel.
Do you train AI models on my data?
No. Your Metabase metadata is sent to Anthropic's API as part of agent calls — Anthropic's API terms explicitly state API data is not used to train their models. We don't run our own training pipelines, period. We don't sell, share, or expose your data to other MetaLens customers either.
